House rules

Welcome to Urnovl, where we empower readers and writers to connect through the stories they love. To ensure that Urnovl remains a safe, creative, and welcoming space, we've established the following House Rules. By using Urnovl, you agree to adhere to these guidelines.

If you violate any of these rules, your account and/or content may be subject to moderation, suspension, or removal. If you notice any violations of these rules, please report it to: support@urnovl.co

1. Respect Others

We are a community of diverse voices. Treat every individual with respect and courtesy.

No Harassment
Do not engage in, encourage, or tolerate abusive, harassing, or harmful behavior. This includes threats, stalking, intimidation, or shaming other users.
No Discrimination
Avoid any language or content that promotes hate or intolerance toward individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability.
No Trolling or Spamming
Do not post irrelevant or inappropriate content that disrupts conversations or annoys other users.

2. Protect Your Privacy and Others'

We will never ask you to provide personal data such as phone numbers or home addresses.

Do not impersonate other users, public figures, or Urnovl staff. Always be transparent about your identity. You are allowed to use an alias, however you are not allowed to pretend to be someone you are not.
Age Restriction
You must be over 13 years old to access and use this site.

3. Share Original and Appropriate Content

We encourage creativity, but please respect the intellectual property of others and maintain appropriate content standards.

Originality

Post only content that you created or have permission to share. Plagiarizing or reposting other people's work without credit is strictly prohibited.

You can only post stories, novels, and images you own or have the right to use them. It's your responsibility to ensure that the content you post doesn't violate any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

Content Standards

Urnovl is for everyone. Avoid posting explicit, pornographic, excessively violent, or graphic material. We may remove any content that we deem inappropriate for the platform.

Remember that our community is 13+ and content should be minor/child friendly. Adult content and/or nudity is prohibited.

No Copyright Violations
Do not share copyrighted material without proper rights or permissions. You are responsible for ensuring that the content you post complies with copyright laws.
Accurate Information (Titles, Summaries, Covers)

Any content you post like title, summary, cover, tags should be accurate, clean and modest. No nudity or graphic content is allowed.

You should accurately depict your content by choosing the right genre or title. Summaries and covers should help the reader understand what your story is about.

Cover Images

You are only allowed to upload high quality illustrations, images and photographs.

Covers should attract readers to read your novel. They should also be meaningful and correlated with the content of the novel.

Your profile name, picture and info should be clean and not feature nudity or graphic content.

Who Owns My Content?

You own any content and cover images you upload as long as you are the rightful owner or have the right to upload such content.

You can share your content or promote it yourself, but we too have the right to display/promote/market your content. We will never sell your content without your consent though.

For more details, please check out our Terms of Service.

4. Keep Things Legal

Respect the law while using Urnovl.

No Illegal Activities
Do not use Urnovl to engage in or promote illegal activities, including but not limited to fraud, piracy, or distributing unauthorized copies of materials.
Compliance
Always follow local, state, and national laws, as well as international laws where applicable.

5. Engage Constructively

Urnovl thrives on positive and meaningful interactions between users.

Constructive Feedback
When critiquing another user's work, focus on offering helpful, respectful, and positive feedback. Avoid insults or derogatory remarks. This is a place to promote collaborative writing, inspiration and create a friendly community of writers and readers.
No Self-Promotion Spam

Avoid excessively promoting yourself, your products, or services. It's fine to share your work, but don't spam other users with unsolicited advertisements or promotions.

You must not post generic requests for other users to read/comment on your story. Flooding another writer with messages is not a good way to communicate and make friends.

No Spam Content
You should never post duplicate stories or content with nearly identical material that is irrelevant to the current story. Content that doesn't make any sense whatsoever will be deleted.

6. Stay Safe

The safety of our users is a priority.

Do Not Solicit or Engage in Harmful Behavior
Do not use the platform to solicit harmful actions, including any form of exploitation or endangerment of others.
Report Suspicious Activity
If you see something concerning, please report it. Help us maintain the integrity and safety of the Urnovl community.

7. Moderation and Enforcement

To keep Urnovl safe and enjoyable, we actively moderate content and user interactions.

Urnovl reserves the right to review, remove, or modify any content that violates these House Rules or our Terms of Service. This includes deleting comments, posts, or stories that are reported or flagged by users.
Account Suspension

Repeated or severe violations of these House Rules may result in suspension or permanent removal of your account.

You are only allowed to have one account per person. You should never create multiple accounts to write/read content or share content on social media.

Additional Guidelines

Creative Commons Licensing

When you write a story, you will have to choose the most suitable Creative Commons license according to your needs.

It's your responsibility to let other users know how your content may be shared and adjust the settings related to accessing and sharing your content accordingly. We do not monitor or control what others do with your content.

In collaborations, licenses are set by the first author and the following authors agree to abide by those rules and limitations.

To learn more about Creative Commons licenses please visit http://creativecommons.org/.

Deleting Content

Deleting a story is very easy if it is in Solo mode and while the story is ongoing. For security reasons, you will have to remove the chapters first from your story overview and then proceed to delete the story from your profile.

If the story is complete, you will have to revert it back to its Ongoing state, and then follow the procedure above.

Things differ while in Collaboration Mode though. Deleting content while a story is collaborative might be more complicated.

After you complete a story, there is no way of deleting your content unless serious justification is provided.

If you want to delete your content after completion, please contact us at support@urnovl.co explaining the reasons why you want to delete it.
